About the event

The bookclub begins in January 2024 with I am Not Your Negro, which pulls together and expands upon Baldwin's final and unfinished writings; this reading coincides with a screen of the movie, I am Not Your Negro, at the Mitchell Branch of the NHFPL on January 29th at 5pm. For subsequent months, we will read - roughly in chronological order - a variety of texts across genres. Fiction, non-fiction essays, poetry - there's something for everyone here. And for everyone, there is plenty of Baldwin! In choosing to read somewhat chronologically, we have the opporutnity to experience together the development of Baldwin's artistry and expression over time.
