Join us for the inaugural Luminary Soirée, Kulturally LIT’s awards and fundraiser experience honoring the bold voices, creative leaders, and cultural revolutionaries shaping the literary landscape of the African Diaspora.
Held in the heart of New Haven at the Shubert Theatre Cabaret, this unforgettable evening will gather writers, artists, cultural workers, and community champions for a night of inspiration, recognition, and connection.
This year we will be honoring three Connecticut based writers:
Nzima Hutchings - Literary Cultivator, Honoring a writer that has nutured literary growth and fosters creativity through literature
Sharmont Little - Cultural Steward, Honoring a local leader whose work impacts and uplifts the literary arts community
Marilyn Nelson - Firestarter Trailblazer Award, Honoring a CT author or writer who has blazed a trail in the literary community
Tochi Onyebuchi - Literary Legend, Honoring a Giant in the literary world who has made significant contributions to the global community
Proceeds from the event will go to support Kulturally LIT's 2026 programming. All donations will be matched by an anonymous donor.
