The Year of Baldwin
Introducing "The Year of Baldwin," a year of programming dedicated to commemorating the centennial anniversary of James Baldwin's birth.
James Baldwin's literary contributions continue to resonate deeply, even a century after his birth. His profound exploration of themes such as masculinity, sexuality, race, and class, as well as his poignant reflections on the socio-political movements of his era, remain as pertinent and thought-provoking today as they were in his time. Through "The Year of Baldwin," our mission is to pay homage to Baldwin's enduring legacy while actively engaging in spirited dialogues across the literary, artistic, and public spheres, addressing contemporary social issues of utmost importance.
“I often wonder what I'd do if there weren't any books in the world.”
